What and how you think, can affect your overall physical and mental health. Also, your thoughts influence how you feel and act. The quality of your actions can often be traced to the quality of your thoughts. Researchers have discovered that most psychosomatic medical conditions arise due to distressing thought patterns. Also, the state of our thoughts can affect the immune system, and this is why the field of Psychoneuroimmunology (PNI) explores the interactions between psychological processes (such as thoughts, emotions, and behaviors), the nervous system, and the immune system. Given the impact of our thoughts on our health, it is crucial to learn how to manage your thoughts intentionally. In this article, you will learn specific ways to manage and overcome negative thought patterns. Controlling automatic negative thoughts can be a struggle at times. Uncontrolled negative thoughts can affect your mood, increase stress levels and adversely impact your overall health. To control your emotions and actions, start with managing your thoughts. Here are the 3 C’s of managing your thoughts: a) Catch: Catch your negative thoughts early by being aware of how you feel regularly b) Capture: Capture your thoughts by using a journal.
